MAISIE SMITH JOINS STRICTLY TOUR LINE-UP, AS AJ ODUDU WITHDRAWS DUE TO INJURY

Strictly 2020 finalist and former EastEnders star Maisie Smith will be joining the celebrity line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Live UK Tour which kicks off on 20 January for 33 scintillating shows across the country.

Maisie, who will dance with Strictly pro Kai Widdrington, will replace AJ Odudu who has had to withdraw from the tour on medical advice following an injury to her foot last December.

Maisie said: ”I’m thrilled to be asked to restart my Strictly journey on this year’s arena tour.  Kai and I will be dancing the Quickstep and the Samba – I can’t wait for rehearsals to start next week.  It will be a joy to dance with everyone and so great to see my EastEnders friend Rose again.  I wish AJ a speedy recovery.”

AJ Odudu said: “I’m devastated not to be able to take part in the Strictly tour due to injury. I had hoped for one last dance with Kai, but I must obviously follow the medical advice. I wish my Strictly family the very best of luck on the road and I’ll definitely be there to cheer them on.

Maisie and Kai will join Strictly 2021 winners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, alongside Sara Davies and Aljaž Skorjanec, Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin, Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu, John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, and Max George and Katya Jones.

As well as the couples’ dances, fans will have the chance to see some breathtaking group performances throughout the show. Professional dancers Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Neil Jones, Jake Leigh, Cameron Lombard, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal will be bringing even more wow to this super-sized dance extravaganza, which features live music from the Strictly singers and band.

The previously announced Live Tour judging panel of Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli; together with new tour host Janette Manrara, make this a sparkling line-up for the whole family not to be missed.

Camera Policy: Flash photography, video and audio recording is not permitted.

Latecomers: All customers must be seated prior to the start of Act 1 & Act 2, if not, they will be held until a suitable break in the performance.

Please note flashing and moving lights will be in use during this performance.

  • Covid-19 Information

The health and safety of everyone who visits Utilita Arena Birmingham remains our top priority. As with other large UK venues, we are implementing COVID-status checks at agreed entry points to keep visitors and staff safe. Please be aware that all visitors must wear face coverings in the venue.

COVID-19 status checks are in place. We will aim to check all visitors, in line with Government guidelines, so you must come prepared to show the relevant proof:

NHS COVID-19 Pass via the NHS App, either on the NHS App or downloaded to your phones wallet.

    OR

Lateral flow or PCR negative test results text or e-mail, received within 48 hours prior to attending the event.

Whilst we only ask for one piece of COVID-status certification, we always encourage those who are double vaccinated to also take a lateral flow test before entering the venue.

    • Your health and safety are our priority when you visit our venues. It is also important that you consider the risks associated with any crowded environment and understand that a concert or show is not a socially distanced event.
    • The venue has implemented enhanced COVID-safety measures to help protect you and others whilst you are within the arena environment. Please consider your own personal needs and requirements before coming into our arenas.
    • Please be aware that all visitors must wear face coverings in the venue.
    • Venue staff will all be wearing face coverings or face visors depending on the area they are working within.
  • BSL Interpreter

We are delighted to announce that the Strictly Tour is providing a registered British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter for all the shows at Utilita Arena Birmingham, as well as the rest of the tour, making it the biggest ever BSL accessible Arena tour in the UK. The interpreter will be displayed on two very large screens either side of the stage area, ensuring customers can book tickets and sit almost anywhere in the arena to enjoy the experience with family and friends.

Now, when we say, ‘sit almost anywhere’, we wanted to give you a heads up about booking your seats. For the best experience, we suggest booking any seats from blocks 3 all the way up to block 10.

We look forward to seeing you there!
