Everything you need to know about Utilita Arena Birmingham!
It’s official! We’ve turned off the Arena Birmingham lights and flicked the switch on a brand new era for our venue – say hello to Utilita Arena Birmingham!
Before you panic or anything, we’re not upping sticks or moving anywhere, we’re still that same great venue in town, but we’ve just got an electrifying new name!
We know it’s a difficult time for everyone at the moment but we wanted to celebrate some good news and give you guys something to look forward to once we’re all back on our feet. Over the last few years, Britain’s leading smart Pay As You Go (PAYG) energy provider, Utilita, have established themselves within the UK live events industry after partnering with a number of major music festivals including Parklife, TRNSMT, Creamfields, V Festival, Bestival and Camp Bestival – as well as their partnership with Newcastle Arena, which became Utilita Arena Newcastle back in 2017. Fast forward to the present day and Utilita have just added our iconic venue to their roster!
Heads up, if you’ve got tickets for any upcoming events and they have Arena Birmingham printed on them, don’t worry, we’ll be in touch with everything you need to know about the show, the venue and your tickets real soon, plus, we’ve got a few Q&A’s listed a bit further down which will put your mind at ease.
Our reign as Arena Birmingham has been a fantastic one, bringing the likes of Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Jack Whitehall, Take That, Cher, Muse, The 1975, Madness, KISS and loads more to the city for some simply unforgettable experiences – and with Utilita on board, we’re set for even more incredible events right here in Birmingham!
We originally planned a bash at Harry Styles’ gig to mark occasion, but obviously with the way things are at the moment, we’re putting things on ice until we’re ready to start delivering the good times back to Birmingham.
Anyway, we want to make sure you lovely lot are fully in the loop with what’s going on here, so, we’ve put together a couple of answers to some questions we just know you’ll want to hear about. If there’s something we’ve not listed below, then just tweet us your q’s to @UtilitaArenaBHM and we’ll do our best to help!
Have a butchers at this…
WHY IS ARENA BIRMINGHAM CHANGING ITS NAME?
The name reflects a new multi-year commercial partnership with energy company Utilita.
AT WHAT POINT SHOULD I START USING THIS NAME?
Start using it now. We’re not the NIA, Barclaycard Arena, Arena Birmingham or anything in between – we are Utilita Arena Birmingham!
HOW SHOULD I PRONOUNCE UTILITA?
Easy, it’s YOU-TILL-IT-AH. Say it like that and you can’t go wrong. Repeat after us YOU-TILL-IT-AH, YOU-TILL-IT-AH, YOU-TILL-IT-AH…UTILITA!
HAVE YOUR SOCIAL HANDLES CHANGED?
Yeah, here's where you can find us now...
WHY DID ARENA BIRMINGHAM CHOOSE UTILITA?
We chose Utilita because it’s a fast-growing company with customer experience at its heart – just like us. It was a no brainer.
WHO ARE UTILITA?
Utilita is the UK’s only energy provider that was created to help households use less gas and electricity. By rolling out smart meters in 90% of its customers’ homes – and counting - Utilita puts people in better control of the energy they use, meaning they waste less, and spend less.
WHAT DOES THE PARTNERSHIP INVOLVE? WHAT BENEFITS WILL CUSTOMERS GET?
Utilita will support us to continue giving you an exceptional customer experience as soon as you walk through our doors! Utilita will take over our building, both inside and out, and you’ll see experiential promos, activities and on-site competitions popping up on show nights!
Also, if you’re a Utilita customer, then you’ll have the chance of getting ticketing and hospitality experiences, receive priority booking and experiences that money can’t buy. How good is that?
HOW WILL THIS WORK ALONGSIDE THE UTILITA ARENA IN NEWCASTLE?
We’ll be called Utilita Arena Birmingham, and they’ll be Utilita Arena Newcastle. We are two separate entities, with Utilita Arena Birmingham owned by NEC Group and Utilita Arena Newcastle owned by ASM Global – we have just both partnered with Utilita.
There will be a clear distinction between the two brands, and because we’re quite far away from each other – we’re not too worried that you’ll go to the wrong venue! *fingers crossed*
That’s it, we just cannot wait to open our doors for the first time as Utilita Arena Birmingham! For now, just sit back, relax, stay at home and stay safe…and we’ll see you town real soon!
