EscapList: Rainy Days

The weather has taken a turn for the worse and decided to reflect the current mood of the nation, nice one! It’s not all doom and gloom though, as we’ve got the perfect EscapList this week to accompany those miserable, rainy days!

The sunshine has arguably made the current situation were in slightly more bearable, but in typical, that was short-lived as the clouds and rain look like they are here to stay.

What goes hand-in-hand with horrible, rainy days? Well, songs with RAIN in the title of course! And the beauty of this, is that you're singing won't make the weather any worse, so feel free to belt this lot out at the top of your lungs. You can listen to our EscapList: Rainy Days playlist right here!

You probably didn't think this playlist could work (at times, we didn't either), but the ten we've chosen are so diverse! We've got old rock classics, big ballads, grime, country, rap, pop...there's literally a bit of everything right here!

1. Guns N' Roses - November Rain

Released way back in 1991, November Rain remains not only one of Guns N' Roses best songs, but one of the iconic rock songs ever created!

2. Adele - Set Fire to the Rain

Perhaps a little impossible to actually set fire to the rain, but that doesn't stop this being a big, big song.

3. Prince - Purple Rain

There's no words to quantify just how good this Prince song is. It's just, incredible.

4. Dermot Kennedy - After Rain

Dermot Kennedy is best known for his most recent releases Power Over Me and Outnumbered, but back in 2016 he gave us After Rain, and you know it, it's actually really good!

5. Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me?

You can't make a playlist about rain and not include this one by Travis. You know the words, so sing along!

6. The Script - Rain

We love The Script here in Birmingham and usually find them over at our sister venue Resorts World Arena, but the buzz they create when they arrive in the city would definitely turnaround your grey, horrible days!

7. Stormzy - Rainfall

Last year was the year of Stormzy after his incredible headline performance at Glastonbury - it was crazy. He's now set for Utilita Arena Birmingham later this year and there's no doubt that if he decides to add this to his setlist then it's going to go OFF! Also, he's the one of two artists on this EscapList who's name also relates to rain, so, double points for Big Mike.

8. The Weather Girls - It's Raining Men

Forgive the gear change, from grime to one of the cheesiest, yet most fantastic pop songs ever recorded. The Weather Girls are also the second artist in this EscapList who's name relates to the rain (kind of), so it felt natural to stick them in here!

9. Luke Combs - When It Rains It Pours

From grime, to pop and now to country. You can't say that we favour just one genre here at Utilita Arena Birmingham! If you're a country music fan then no doubt you'll know all about Luke Combs. If you're not already a fan, after listening to this you definitely will be.

And yes, we know the photo looks a little Joe Exotic, but trust us, give it a go!

10. Aitch & AJ Tracey - Rain

We featured this in our Future Classics EscapList a few weeks back and since then, it's just exploded (see, we know our stuff). We had to include it in this weeks EscapList too, one, because of the title...obviously, and two, because it's a BANGER!
